My Life - NAK (Nutrition And Kids) to the rescue
By the age of ten I weighed 150 pounds.
By age 20, I weighed about 220
I then decided I would diet to get the extra weight off. That was
a bad move. I lost my gall bladder due to the stress on my system. I then
decided I could no longer afford to diet.
I got married at age 25 and
gained 65 pounds because of the bad food habits both my wife and I had. I
still did not diet.
One day I weighed myself and found that I weighed 335
pounds. I was shocked into joining a weight loss program and lost 76
After a year of unrealistic and unsustainable dieting, I finally
quit and ballooned to 400+ pounds when I suffered my first disabling
injury. I started to NEED to use canes.
This set up a series of diets and
weight gains, and injuries. I then fell into the cycle of, weight gain and
sedentary lifestyle, then more weight gain and an even more sedentary
lifestyle. One cannot move very well when they are carrying an extra
person or two or even three on a frame meant to carry only 190 - 200
pounds at the most.
Eventually, I got to where I am now. I weigh over 600 pounds and I am
unable to care for myself. I am totally dependent on my wife for my very
existence. Let me tell you, my physical life is so hard that I have often
prayed for death rather than live another moment. All of this started by
having childhood obesity.
I want to help others avoid this path I am currently living. Obese
children grow up to be obese adults who are more susceptible to health
problems, injury, disability and early death. Without education, children
will choose to eat only fast foods, drink only sugary and carbonated drinks
that mess with their blood chemistry, kill the calcium in their bones and
sets them up for a miserable lifestyle if they are not lucky enough to
have a fatal heart attack first.
I fully believe that Nutrition and Kids is the program needed for today to
educate children and their parents so that the children can change their
lifestyles to become healthy adults. The ONLY way to break the obesity and
sedentary lifestyle cycle is through education, nutrition and exercise.
That is the only way today even for me to have hope.

Childhood obesity, indeed obesity around the world is epidemic. Seven
years ago, the State of Texas took athletics out of the school
system. Just recently, the legislature wrote legislation that
athletics is now a required course! They discovered that it is much
cheaper to prevent obesity than to pay the bill of taking care of the
health problems obesity causes.
Just recently, the State of California proposed sin taxes on sodas
and junk foods. The IRS now gives tax write-offs for the extra
expenses of caring for obesity as a medical condition.
My friend Daniel Deane is the result of childhood obesity,a family tendency
for obesity, and poor food choices that he learned in childhood. He
remembers the first time that he was given permission to overeat. He now
is morbidly obese (600 lbs.!) and disabled. Morbid obesity KILLS!
Children are dying early and those who survive into adulthood as obese
adults face early disability or death due to the complications of obesity.
Nutrition and Kids, founded by Dr. Kim Gebrosky, provides a viable
and on time answer to these problems today. The Nutrition and Kids
Adventures game CD is a wonderful game children truly enjoy!
"Nutrition and Kids Adventures" is a cutting edge game designed to
help kids teach themselves about proper nutrition, healthier foods,
and having a healthy body.
The idea is to promote this CD-ROM game directly to our elementary
age children to provide them with education on health and nutrition.
Our aim is not only to bring higher mentality and awareness of how
important nutrition plays a roll in or physical or mental health, but
also to generate a generous amount of funds that can be given to
schools and organizations for the betterment of education to our
young people, which is so vital to our future.
The City of Philadelphia has signed on to promote the Nutrition and
Kids Adventures game CD They are using it city wide in their after
school programs Perdue University just April 3rd 2002 has joined us
to promote the CD game. This is happening all across the nation. Yet,
it is so new that few people have even heard of the CD. That makes
the CD a perfect fund raiser!! Grandparents and parents are buying
the CD and the kids are truly enjoying it! Organizations are really
pulling in the funds they need for their projects. Want to help them?
Tell them to read all about it here:
